Some photos of Ottawa!
So, Montreal!
Guys, Montreal has been a real treat, it’s utterly beautiful and the people are lovely and the Poutine is delicious. I’ve taken a bunch of photos and I’m saddened to say I won’t be able to upload them until I find a suitable computer, something this hostel lacks (but I’ll get on to them in a bit).
As mentioned before, I felt a little intimidated when I got here, the weather was grisly, people were speaking French around me (I haven’t been able to understand French since upper school) and I had no idea where I was going but soon enough I managed to pull myself together, find my hostel and get some sleep before I embarked on a few days of sight seeing!
My first day was filled with a walking tour of Old Montreal put together by a group who not only wanted to demonstrate their passion for Montreal’s past but also for it’s contemporary setting as well and the 2 hours I spent with my tour guide Marc flew by, I then spent the rest of the day hunting down places he’d given to me on a sheet they had put together, one of places was a 24 hour restaurant named Le Banquise 24hr which served a myriad of Poutine variations! So I walked my way around Old Montreal, checked out the ‘underground city’, a gigantic underground mall, saw the Basilica and generally marvelled at Montreal’s gorgeous architecture.
Oh, I also climbed up Mont Royal and oh man, do I wish I could show you guys a photo from the peak, soon as I get access to a machine that will recognise my camera I will do that. Which brings me on to the down side of this trip.
The hostel, oh lord the hostel! So I figured as it was a relatively new hostel they might have their stuff together ready in time for people to come and enjoy Montreal from their convenient location (the main reason I chose this place), sadly they didn’t, in fact it wasn’t until my second day here did they even bother up information on what to do in the event of a fire! The staff are pleasant enough but the place is pretty much a dive and I’m surprised I haven’t had my stuff nicked seeing as how there isn’t anywhere secure to store your stuff (I’ve taken to placing all of my important documents in such in my small rucksack and taking it out with me during the day and then sleeping with it next to me at night), this place unfortunately won’t be getting a great review from me but I guess it’s served it’s purpose and I’m still alive so.
Yeah,
that’s pretty okay.
Next! Ottawa!
p.s Oh yeah, the weather brightened up here too, woo!
Benjamin's travel bleugh: #TCAF: I bought way too many comics
So you guys, I have no words, but I also have some words.
This is going to be a really geeky, mushy post and probably won’t be of any interest to anyone who doesn’t have an interest in comics.
The Toronto Comics & Arts Festival has possibly been one of the most positive, eye opening experiences…
Here’s my comic put together all nice about Debbie, a girl on my facebook I don’t think I’ve ever talked to but she went to my school once and I remember her eating profiteroles at prom.
I think I want to make more comics this summer.
This girl, I kind of want to marry this girl. I hope that’s not terribly awkward. She is going to go far.
Nearly time!
Hello again, friends!
Just another post to highlight my travel blog which I will be primarily posting on during my 2 month stint around Canada/America! It would be really great if you could follow my adventures with me!
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Yours,
Benjamin xoxo
